In addition to the Tube and buses, another convenient and scenic way to
get around London is by using Uber Boat, a fast river transport service
that is accessible to wheelchair users.
A Scenic Experience
Uber Boat offers a great opportunity to see London from a different
perspective—both during the day and at night, when the city is lit up in a
dazzling display.

During my visit, I boarded the boat at Tower Pier and got off at Battersea
Power Station, using my wheelchair with electric propulsion.

There are 24 main piers along the River Thames, including:
- Battersea Power Station
- Vauxhall
- Millbank
- London Eye (Waterloo)
- Embankment
- Blackfriars
- Bankside
- London Bridge City
- Tower
- Canary Wharf

All piers are step-free and equipped with wheelchair-accessible ramps, except for:
- Cadogan
- London Bridge City
- Wandsworth Riverside Quarter
Boarding the Boat
The boats are accessible to both manual and electric wheelchairs. To board, staff provide a portable ramp.

However, the ramp is curved and not completely flat, so I needed assistance from my companion to get on and off the boat.

Inside the boat, there is enough space in the aisles to navigate with a wheelchair.

Designated seating areas for disabled passengers are
clearly marked with a wheelchair symbol.
For safety reasons, wheelchairs are not allowed on the rear deck.

Most boats also feature accessible toilets, although I did not
use them personally and cannot comment on their condition.
Ticket Prices
Disabled passengers receive a 50% discount on all ticket types (single, return, Hop-on
Hop-off). A discounted single ticket costs £4.75.
The carer or companion travels for free.
Where to Buy Tickets
Tickets can be purchased online by selecting:
- "Concession" for the
discounted ticket
- "Carer" for the free
companion ticket
Tickets can be downloaded to your smartphone and shown to staff at the
pier.
Final Thoughts
Overall, my experience was positive. The only difficulty I
encountered was the slope of the ramp, which I was able to manage with a
push from my companion.
